About WIT Indonesia
Hot, you know. Awesome, it definitely is. Buzz, for sure. Yes, Indonesia travel is certainly hot which is why we are bringing WIT to Indonesia for the first time.
Here’s why it is hebat.
237 million population. 73 million Internet users by 2014. 45 million Facebook members. 20 million Twitter accounts – out of 50 million daily tweets, 6 million are from Indonesia. 60% of web access from mobile. Strong e-commerce potential – comScore says it’s showing the strongest e-commerce growth in South-east Asia.
Low cost airlines: Lion Air has about 245 aircraft on order from Boeing; Singapore’s Tiger Airways bought a 33% stake in Mandala in early 2012; AirAsia moved its ASEAN headquarters to Jakarta to seize opportunities for growth.
Hotel development: When Accor, with 50 hotels in Indonesia, launched Accorhotels.com in Bahasa in May 2012, Jean-Luc Chretien, EVP, Sales Distribution and Loyalty, said, “With more than 100 million users and with Internet penetration reaching 37 per cent in 2015, Indonesia is a promising digital market in the region.” Local groups such as Aston has a development pipeline of 50 hotels and are creating new brands (favehotels).
Beyond the numbers, real change is taking place underneath the surface. Customer behaviour is changing. Distribution and marketing is evolving. Travel suppliers have to adapt. Intermediaries are stepping up their game in a market that’s as unique as it is different in how it is developing.
The one-day WIT Indonesia is organized jointly with local partner Kibar Kreasi, a digital marketing specialist behind events such as Geek Fest, Women Wired Weekend and the Alpha Terra Digital Marketing Conference.
It will bring together foreign and Indonesian experts in travel distribution, marketing and technology to discuss and exchange knowledge and ideas about the online space and what you need to know to engage with the new Indonesian consumer.
