ELIZABETH RICH, CEO, Business Events Council of Australia

Well known as one of the leading personalities and representatives of the meetings industry in Australia, Elizabeth has been managing her own company, Agenda Pty Ltd since the early 1980s, specialising in the business events sector.   Her company consults on a variety of industry-related projects, and she is a regular contributor to trade magazines in Australia and Asia.  

Elizabeth has presented at numerous industry conferences and training programs within Australia and overseas.  For the past ten years Elizabeth has developed and facilitated the annual 2-day ICCA Youth Forum at AIME. 

Since its formation in 1994, Elizabeth has managed the Business Events Council of Australia, a peak body representing the meetings, incentives and exhibition industry.   A seasoned lobbyist for the industry, she has in-depth knowledge of the development of the meetings industry in Australia and is a keen observer of the global market.  Most recently, Elizabeth has played a key role in the preparation of the National Business Events Strategy for Australia 2020, which was released in November 2008.

Over her 30-year career in the conference industry, Elizabeth has developed a reputation as an innovative conference manager, with a flair for producing strong business programs which produced results.  Experienced in all aspects of conference management, from logistics to strategic level, Elizabeth has also developed an on-stage reputation as a moderator and facilitator of forums.

Elizabeth has received a number of industry awards for her outstanding industry contribution, and in 2003 she received a Centenary Medal from the Australia Government for her contribution to the business tourism sector.
