DR AMIN KHAN, Senior General Manager, Network, Rev Management and Distribution, Malaysia Airlines

Dr Amin is the Senior General Manager of Malaysia Airlines, leading the Network, Revenue Management and Distribution Division.

Dr Amin is an aircraft engineer by profession. He holds a PhD in Management and a MBA from Cranfield University, England. He finished his PhD in record time of two and a half years and was duly recognized by the University as an outstanding achievement. He continues to maintain close rapport with the faculty and was the Protem President of the Cranfield Alumni in Malaysia.

Dr Amin is a GE certified Six Sigma black belt holder. He spearheaded the Six Sigma program in Malaysia Airlines and continues to mentor and sponsor the Six Sigma programs to improve cost effectiveness and productivity.

Dr Amin held the portfolio of Program Director for the new passenger services system – a suite of airline business solutions from booking and ticketing to check-in, bringing together the best of breed in terms of technology, business processes and change management for the airline. The PSS is critical to the airline’s business turnaround plan in providing the business tools for the thrust “Flying to Win”. He has put the airline in record time in IATA’s green book for e-ticketing.

Dr Amin is also a key driver in the airline’s domestic rationalization program that facilitated the birth of 2 national champions in Malaysia’s national aviation policy in 2006. A year later, he was back on the job to revive the rural air services as the Managing Director of MASwings, a newly formed subsidiary that is focused on developing connectivity and bringing the world to Malaysia’s rich heritage states of Sabah and Sarawak. Dr Amin is now on the board of MASwings.

He has been in engineering, internal audit, supply chain management and HR. In engineering, he had supervised the engineering maintenance workshop, commissioned engineering facilities and provided internal technical advisory services. He has worked with major multinationals such as General Electric and Rolls Royce.

Dr Amin had also been the Regional Manager for the China region, driving the sales distribution and marketing strategies in the field.

As a past-time, Dr Amin used to lecture in universities and coach students pursuing MBA programs in the universities (RMIT Australia, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as well as Cranfield University). He was an examiner as well as a curriculum advisor. He specialized in Operations Management, Services Marketing, International Marketing and Project Management.
