Yeoh Siew Hoon is the Editor-at-Large for Shy Ventures – a company that she founded, that is driven by the mantra: “Content, Communication, Connection”.
The multi-talented Miss Yeoh also created and manages the highly regarded travel insider website www.thetransitcafe.com, while publishing her signature columns and features in key travel industry titles, and business and lifestyle magazines.
Miss Yeoh is also an established speaker and facilitator at travel industry conferences and workshops. In 2004, she extended this interest further by launching her very own conference WIT – Web in travel – a travel distribution and marketing conference. The success of the conference was soon recognized. In 2008, WIT was awarded the Most Innovative Marketing Initiative title by the Singapore Tourism Board.
Miss Yeoh is also a published author, having written titles including “Truth, Lies & Other Stuff” and “Around Asia in 1 Hr: Tales of Condoms, Chillies & Curries”.
Background
Miss Yeoh has nearly 30 years of experience in writing and penning her thoughts, speaking at conferences and facilitating workshops.
She started her career as a rookie reporter in the main English language paper in Penang in Malaysia. But her love for travel and adventure led her to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore where she proceeded to successfully introduce and establish a list of travel titles that define the industry today. These include TTG China, TTG Japan, TravelAsia, TravelWeekly, PTN Asia/Pacific, Business Travel News Asia/Pacific and PTN Asia/Pacific.
Miss Yeoh was also the lead in the inaugural launch of one of the key tradeshows today, IT&CMA.
Her passion for new experiences and exploration also garnered Miss Yeoh several awards including PATA Journalist of the Year, and accolades from ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) and the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (SITE). In 2008, WEB in Travel, a conference that she developed, was also awarded the Most Innovative Marketing Initiative title by the Singapore Tourism Board.
