Ian Wilson was transferred to Asia as the General Manager of The Fairmont Singapore and Regional Vice President, Asia for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2007. Since his arrival in Asia he has played an instrumental role in the re-branding of the Hotel, previously known as Raffles The Plaza, Singapore. In his dual capacity with Fairmont, he is responsible for the overall operations and profitability of The Fairmont Singapore, has oversight of hotel operations in Asia including hotel openings, he assists in the design and construction in the planning of new hotels and assists in the development in the evaluation of prospective hotels in Asia.

Prior to working in Asia, Ian was the General Manager of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada, to which he was promoted from being the Hotel Manager. Before he became a hotel manager, Ian was the Executive Director, Distribution Management for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Toronto, Canada - Corporate Office and before that, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Global Reservation Centre, Moncton, Canada where he was Director and subsequently Executive Director of the centre. Ian began his career as a cook, and then worked his way up from a waiter, to captain, to Assistant Manager, Evenings and then as Front Office Manager, from which position he joined Fairmont in their Global Reservations Centre.

Ian has attained from the Cornell University - School of Hotel Administration, Certification in Revenue Management, a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) - Hotel Administration and a Bachelor of Science (BS) - Hotel Administration.
