ROBERT BAILEY, President & CEO, Abacus International

Robert’s career in travel distribution includes a variety of roles with Galileo International; a Europe based Global Distribution System (GDS) now part of Travelport. Robert was responsible for developing Galileo’s network of National Distribution Companies with airlines worldwide and latterly as Director, Sales and Marketing, Europe. He also spent time in Switzerland as Managing Director of Traviswiss, the market leader in travel distribution owned by Swissair.

In 2000, Robert joined SITA a leading global telecommunications and IT services organisation serving the airline, travel and transportation sectors. Whilst at SITA Robert’s roles encompassed Vice President Marketing and Market Development, Vice President Government Sector, Head of Business Planning and Strategy and Head of Sector Business Development. Prior to his appointment to Abacus, Robert was Senior Vice President and Managing Director at ITSMA, a professional services company specialising in technology and services marketing.

Robert is a graduate from the University of Cambridge and holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. A British national, Robert has a long-term connection with the Asia Pacific region having spent his childhood in Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand, as well as frequently working in Asia as part of his global responsibilities in earlier roles.
