With mobile driving change in travel at every level, Singapore Airlines has appointed Mobile Travel Technologies Ltd. (MTT) as its strategic mobile partner to re-launch the airline’s mobile apps.
The goal is to “bring fresh, cutting edge mobile services to its customers and to collaborate on a dynamic mobile strategy”, said the statement.
MTT will relaunch Singapore Airlines’ smartphone apps to be followed quickly by a new tablet app, with both focused on enabling excellent travel interactions in line with the airline’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience.
Speaking in Singapore, Gerry Samuels, CEO of MTT said “We are proud to announce this significant partnership with Singapore Airlines, one of the most respected travel brands worldwide and we very much look forward to launching the first phases of the new Singapore Airlines apps.”
As for the top three mobile trends he sees unfolding this year, Samuels said, “Apple Pay integration which will enable mobile payments with a single touch within apps – 2015 should finally be the year that mobile payments really make an impact.
“I also see the rise of data snacking as a key mobile trend whereby quick, actionable and relevant mobile notifications are presented to travellers in a timely, contextual manner. Content that can be consumed at a glance and acted on quickly if required. Pure Google & Android Chrome Apps which could provide the ability to run apps on desktops is also a very interesting trend and one to watch.
“There is also the rise of the silent traveller, travellers who want to be serviced more and more on mobile so that they can be more independent when travelling and have more control over their travel experience.”
