The app acts like a personal tour guide, helps travellers to plan their itineraries, shows them around the city and describes attractions or recommends restaurants. Powered by TripFlick semantic recommendation platform it is a free to download at Google Play,
Nishant Johri, TripFlick CEO (pictured right), said the app helps users to plan their trip based on what they like. The semantic recommendation engine combines advanced recommendations and hybrid multi-objective genetic algorithms to power the app.
“It generates intelligent travel itineraries that consider opening and closing hours of sights, distance, and current location of the user. Travellers get personalised recommendations of attractions and restaurants; see the route to destination on the map along with cost and mode of commuting.”
Relating how the two companies developed the app Winnie Tan, founder of Travelogy (pictured below right), said that as both were travel start-ups they were a little guarded when they first started talking, unsure if they were competitors or if there was much synergy between the two products.
“We decided to overlook the ‘what-is-in-it-for-us’ and just focus on creating something that will be useful to our users.”
