ANA lands at KL International Airport
Japan-based All Nippon Airways (ANA) started daily services between Tokyo Narita and KL International Airport (KLIA) on September 1, operating with a Boeing B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
In a joint statement with ANA, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) CEO Datuk Abd Hamid Mohd Ali said ANA’s services was a testament to the expanding economic and cultural ties between Malaysia and Japan.
Starwood debuts latest brand, Tribute, in Asia Pacific
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide introduces the Tribute Portfolio brand in Asia Pacific with the signing of The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido.
Owned by Kiroro Resort Holdings Co., Ltd., the hotel is located at the Kiroro Resort in Western Hokkaido, Japan. The Kiroro is part of a dual signing with the Sheraton Hokkaido Kiroro Resort, both of which are scheduled to open in December 2015.
Massive decline in tourists hits Macau’s pockets
More grim news emerged from Macau this week as gross domestic product (GDP) figures were released showing the economy had hit its lowest point since 2011. Macau is heavily dependent on tourism and gambling and the steep decline in tourist numbers from mainland China is hitting Macau where it hurts.
A combination of factors including the Chinese stock market crash, the devaluation of the Renminbi and the clampdown on corruption are to blame.
