KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) is making easy for its customers to search for the right flights in a jiffy through its newly launched voice-driven service on Google Assistant.
KLM’s smart assistant, BB (short for Blue Bot), can search for flights in both English and Dutch. This makes the airline “one of the first companies in the world to offer a service on this voice-activated platform in more than one language,” it said in a media statement.
You can talk with BB via Google Assistant on your smartphone or tablet. Once you find the desired flight, BB sends you a link that takes you straight to KLM.com where you can book the flight directly (watch video below).
BB is based on artificial intelligence, which is linked to a combination of KLM and external technologies. She is self-learning and is helpful, friendly, professional and edgy. The more you use her, the smarter and more personal she becomes.
The smart assistant is already assisting KLM customers with booking tickets through Messenger (in English) and the packing of a suitcase on Google Assistant (in English). She will offer more services on this voice-activated platform and other social media channels in the coming months.
“Voice control will rapidly change the world. Consumers are discovering and using voice applications more and more in their everyday lives. KLM wants to be present on the platforms where its customers are, and that automatically means a platform like Google Assistant,” Pieter Groeneveld, senior vice president Digital, Air France-KLM commented. “Providing the option to search for flights using voice commands in multiple languages is the next strategic step.”
KLM is known as being a pioneer in the field of social media services and campaigns. It is the first airline in the world to offer passengers the option of receiving their flight documents and status updates on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter. It is also the first Western airline to offer this service on the Chinese platform. WeChat.
