Have a smashing stay at the world’s first Avo-Condo
25/07/2019 by WiT

You may have had a smashed avo toast before, but have you ever done a guac and roll and stayed in an Avo-Condo? We’d guess not since Booking.com has just released two room nights at the world’s first avocado-shaped accommodation right at Sydney’s Circular Quay.

For just two nights only and in celebration of National Avocado Day on July 31, Booking.com has commissioned an avocado-shaped camper, complete with avocado-themed furnishings, to sit right on the promenade fronting the harbour. Aside from unblocked views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, guests will also be treated to a hamper of avocado-themed goodies during their stay. And if getting up to paparazzi outside your door is your kind of thing, sign up quickly – we’re guessing this is the kind of attention this publicity stint is likely to garner.

“At Booking.com, we’re proud to offer our customers unique and unforgettable places to stay all over the world,” said Luke Wilson, area manager at Booking.com Australia. “Inspired by the world’s obsession with all things avocado, the Avo-Condo is a fun, quintessentially Australian experience like no other.”

To book, visit Booking.com on July 29.

• Price per night: $100 AUD (inc GST)

• Location: Campbell’s Cove Lookout, 4 Circular Quay Way, The Rocks, NSW 2000

And if you need further inspiration, here are some fun facts about avocados:

  1. Avocados aren’t a fruit or a vegetable, but in fact a berry.
  2. They used to be called ‘alligator pears’
  3. The largest avocado on record weighed 2.4 kilograms (5.3 pounds)
  4. The avocado seed was once used to make ink
  5. All avocados are picked by hand, using a five-metre pole
