BeMyGuest, Asia’s leading aggregator of local tours and activities, has bought its former competitor, Indiescapes, for an undisclosed sum that wil see it expanding its offerings in South East Asia..

Indiescapes, a curated marketplace that connects travellers seeking unique travel experiences across South East Asia, will have its content integrated with BeMyGuest.

Clement Wong, founder and CEO of BeMyGuest, said: “We’ve been admirers of Indiescapes from a professional and competitive point of view for some time. They’ve done a great job collecting selective travel experiences, and we’re very excited to incorporate these additional activities throughout Asia, providing our customers and partners with an even wider array of unique local travel content.”

Indiescapes hosts will benefit from the wider customer base of BeMyGuest’s travellers, who seek individual and immersive travel experiences beyond commercial package tours.

“We view this acquisition as a positive progression for our existing customers,” said Heidi Shum and Min Seetoh, founders of Indiescapes. “With so many synergies, joining BeMyGuest will provide our clients with exposure to a wider network and provide a significant increase in bookings.”

The acquisition comes just a month after angel funding in BeMyGuest by South Korea’s third largest OTA, Tidesquare, and the successful investment of S$500k in seed funding in October 2013.

BeMyGuest provides tour and activity businesses with free content management technology, and currently works with more than 250 suppliers, SMEs and individual operators. it provides them with a free content management system, distribution of products through the BeMyGuest site, travel partner syndications, travel comparison tool, SMS booking confirmation, and free marketing activity both offline and online – all streamlined and tailored to the Asian market.

“By digitalising and standardising local travel content from suppliers across emerging markets we provide a marketplace for travel products otherwise unattainable for travellers who seek a unique and immersive experience, while supporting local businesses,” BeMyGuest’s Wong added.

According to PhoCusWright, four in five travellers seek tour and activity options when planning their travel arrangements online. The tours and activities sector is estimated to be worth US$100 billion per year globally.
