JTB and Trip.com Group have agreed to set up a joint venture called JTB Inbound Trip.Co., Ltd to address the challenges faced by business partners such as accommodation and local governments in the inbound tourism sector from Asia to Japan.
Said the press release issued by JTB, “In anticipation of the expected growth in inbound tourism demand from the Asian region to Japan, expanding sales channels and strengthening procurement and content tailored to traveler needs have become crucial.
“Simultaneously, there are significant challenges in areas such as multilingual support for accommodation and tourist facilities, as well as alleviating the concentration of tourism demand in certain cities, regions, and periods, requiring improvements in the environment for inbound tourism reception.”
It said the partnership would leverage Trip.com Group’s global sales network and JTB’s procurement focused on accommodation to increase accommodation options for inbound travellers to Japan, match the needs of inbound travellers to the right accommodation and expand sales network for accommodation and tourist facilities.
It will also utilise Trip.com Group’s insights into the inbound tourism market and JTB’s Destination Management Company (DMC) bases across Japan’s 47 prefectures to:
