Amadeus has completed the acquisition of TravelClick, which it agreed to buy from private equity firm Thoma Bravo for US$1.52 billion in August.
Thoma Bravo purchased TravelClick in 2014 from venture capital firm Genstar for US$930 million
TravelClick, based in New York City, provides cloud-based solutions including hotel central reservations systems, guest management solution, business intelligence and media solutions to mid-chain and independent hotels. It serves more than 25,000 customers across 176 countries.
The cash transaction was finalised after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals, including competition clearance in all relevant markets, the travel technology giant announced in a statement.
“The acquisition marks an important step in the hospitality sector for Amadeus, which has a portfolio of innovative solutions serving hotels and chains of all sizes worldwide,” it added.

TravelClick will become part of Amadeus’ Hospitality customer unit, which will be led by Francisco Pérez-Lozao. Initially the company will be a distinct entity within the unit, and will be known as ‘TravelClick, an Amadeus company’.
About 1,100 Travelclick employees will be transferred to Amadeus.
“The addition of TravelClick significantly enhances our presence in the hospitality industry, not only broadening our product portfolio but also our know-how and global presence,” said Luis Maroto, president and CEO of Amadeus.
“In a highly fragmented market, Amadeus now has the people and the technology to help all hoteliers rise to the challenge of delivering a great experience for their guests.”
Added Pérez-Lozao: ““There’s a huge opportunity in the hospitality market for a technology provider that can unite separate systems and give hoteliers a single view of their guests, in turn allowing them to serve the customer better, drive new revenue opportunities and manage their costs.
“That is our ambition for the industry and we’re excited to bring the TravelClick team on board and start working together to that aim.”
