Singapore-based start-up Flocations, a searchengine/marketplace for travel packages, has launched an app for the iPhone, currently available only in the island republic.
Touting the app as a first for Singapore, the company said it has over 5,000 travel packages in its inventory from more than 60 Singapore agencies. Travellers can find and book travel packages from these agencies, which are not usually available online.
The app’s other features include one tap calling, email and booking; search by price, duration, dates; see full itineraries; and browse photos/maps. Future versions of the app lication will allow users to manage their favourite packages and agencies.
On the decision to step into the mobile space Venkat Dhamodaran, Flocations’ co founder and product manager for mobile, said with about 40% of its users visiting the site from mobile it was timely to launch a (mobile) app.
“Mobile traffic is captured by our web application for any mobile phone accessing flocations.com. However, we have decided to give our iPhone users a smoother experience with a native iOS,” he added.
Currently Flocations has over 45,000 monthly visitors to its site.
The app is now available on the Singapore iTunes App Store.
