Just over a month into its launch in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan last-minute hotel booking app, HotelQuickly, debuts in Vietnam with hotels listing in Hanoi and Ho-Chi-Minh City.
The app offers both international and domestic travellers a new way to save on hotel rates and booking “on the go”, directly from their smartphone – iPhones and Android devices.
According to HotelQuickly, the rates are significantly better than what are publicly available through traditional booking sites. The app shows up to six hotel deals per city, and booking a room takes a matter of seconds. Users can only book for the very same night, and this arrangement allows HotelQuickly to give discounts of up to 50%-60% on regular room rates.
Raphael Cohen, HotelQuickly’s co-founder and chief sales officer, said that until today Vietnam was missing on the map.
“Many business travellers commute between Hanoi and Ho-Chi-Minh City and stay for only one or two days. The number of flights between these two cities has increased recently, and demand is clearly on the rise”
The Hong Kong based startup believes the growth potential in Vietnam is tremendous even though it is a young market for mobile commerce, and the use of smartphones there is not as widespread as other countries in the region.
This is due to the high growth rates in tourism, technology, and mobile adoption in the country. These factors, combined with the increasing importance of Vietnam as a place of business in Southeast Asia, are the main drivers for the company adding Vietnam as its first additional country to the initial batch of six countries.
