Same-day hotel booking mobile app, HotelQuickly, is set to expand further within the region and accelerate product development after closing series A round funding of HK$9 million (US$1.15 million).

Financial backers consist of angel investors from three continents, including Boon Hwee Koh, former chairman of Singtel and Singapore Airlines; and current board member of several private companies, including Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.

HotelQuickly’s CEO Tomas Laboutka is confident the company’s growth will further accelerate with the additional funds, as spontaneous travel, weekend getaways, and short-term business trips become more popular across the region.

“We are still only scratching the surface of Asia’s last-minute booking market,” he added.

HotelQuickly app is available for free for the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry 10 smartphones. More than 150,000 users have downloaded the app.

The company operates on two continents and 11 countries across Asia Pacific, covering nearly 40 different regional destinations and working with 400 partner hotels.
