Location-based services way to go
24/05/2012 by WiT

Mobile was of course talked about at the recent Abacus underground event in Bangkok – the key point being that location-based services will become critical.

These data points from Christian Cadeo, head of mobile, South-east Asia of Google.

One in three searches have local intent and that includes:

• Search near my location
• Find friends nearby
• Call a local business
• Find local store hours
• Get driving directions
• Browse what’s near me now
• Locate a business on map

Cadeo also said it was important that if you are enabling transactions on mobile, make sure it works.
Seems mobile users are a demanding and unforgiving lot – they expect quick and consistent tractions anytime and they hold grudges and move on if they aren’t satisfied

According to Cadeo, 61% will not come back to the site, 40% will go to competitors and 19% will have a negative perception of your brand.

Tough crowd.
