BOOKING Holdings has named Omri Morgenshtern as chief executive officer of its online travel agency, Agoda.

He assumes his new role on July 1, replacing John Brown who, after helming Agoda for 11 years, will take on a chairperson position.

Morgenshtern is currently Agoda’s chief operating officer, overseeing product, partner services and the Customer Experience Group.

He was co-founder & CEO of Israeli startup Qlika, an UpWest Labs startup specialising in online marketing optimisation, which was purchased by Priceline Group, a brand within Booking Holdings, in 2014.

Following the acquisition, Morgenshtern joined Agoda as senior product owner for algorithms and learning systems, then as vice president of product development, chief product officer and chief operating officer from 2018.

Glenn Fogel, chief executive officer at Booking Holdings, said Brown “has contributed immensely to Agoda’s continued expansion and success over the years he has been at the helm” and the company would continue to benefit from his knowledge and expertise

He added Morgenshtern “has played a critical role in directing Agoda’s product and service offerings as both chief product officer and, most recently, chief operating officer.

“His knowledge and experience of the business is unmatched, and I look forward to Agoda’s continued momentum under his leadership.”
