SITA has appointed David Lavorel as its new CEO, who takes the reins of the company as airlines and airports look to technology to support industry recovery.
He replaces Barbara Dalibard who left SITA after five years at the helm.
SITA’s veteran executive David Lavorel is the company’s new CEO.
Lavorel joined the Geneva-based air transport industry IT provider in 2000 and served as vice president, mergers & acquisitions and head of France Telecom Partnership Management (SITA communications business).
Over the past 20 years he has worked in a number of senior roles in the company, and was most recently CEO of SITA’s airports and borders. He was also the CEO of SITA for aircraft, and senior VP corporate development and head of the CEO office.
Commenting on the appointment Omar Jefri, chairman of the SITA board of directors, said: “The air transport industry has been through an incredibly turbulent period. As we look to recovery, digitalisation of the industry is a key focus.
“David’s experience and knowledge of both the industry and SITA will be instrumental in cementing SITA’s position as a trusted partner, working with our shareholders to shape the future direction of the organisation.”
