Spotnana, a Travel-as-a-Service platform aimed at modernizing the travel industry’s infrastructure, has unveiled capabilities that allow travellers to redeem unused airline ticket credits on a self-service basis.
Notably, Spotnana has emerged as the first company to facilitate the redemption of unused ticket credits for both EDIFACT and NDC airfares. The platform has expanded its direct NDC integration with American Airlines, enabling travellers to redeem an unused ticket credit for an EDIFACT-based booking and apply it towards the purchase of an NDC fare.
The Director of Airline Retailing Technology at American Airlines, Anthony Rader, lauded Spotnana’s implementation of NDC redemptions for EDIFACT-based flight credits, emphasizing the platform’s compatibility with the NDC framework and expressing anticipation for future collaborative innovations.
Thanks to these newly introduced features, travellers utilizing Spotnana can view their unused ticket credits during the booking process, gaining visibility into available flight options for credit redemption and applying the credit value towards the desired flight.
The platform also offers the option of choosing from multiple unused ticket credits for the same flight, giving travellers a little more flexibility.
Spotnana’s platform caters to both travellers and agents, enabling travel agents to utilize unused ticket credits on behalf of travellers. Furthermore, administrators gain access to reports on outstanding or redeemed unused ticket credits, furnishing insights into travel program savings.
These latest developments expand Spotnana’s self-service capabilities, encompassing flight change and cancellation options, such as modifications or cancellations for partially flown trips, obtaining unused ticket credits for canceling non-refundable flights, and the freedom to opt between an unused ticket credit or a refund if amounts differ.
Spotnana’s Founder and CEO, Sarosh Waghmar, emphasizes the platform’s automation of complex flight change and cancellation scenarios, bringing newfound efficiency to both travellers and agents. Furthermore, Waghmar highlights the platform’s content agnostic, modern, microservices-based architecture, making it seamless to implement new capabilities across diverse content sources.
