EXPEDIA Group Media Solutions has named Rob Torres as senior vice president.

Torres rejoins Expedia Group from Google where he spent the last 15 years as managing director of advertising and marketing for its travel division overseeing sales, strategy, product development and relationship management. He was previously vice president of strategic accounts for seven year with Expedia, working with key hotel partners.

In his new role he will oversee Expedia’s global advertising business, and build “on the more than 20-year history of Media Solutions and play an active role with the leadership team,” said Expedia in a statement.

“After nearly 16 years away from Expedia Group, I’m excited to return to the company with a focus on delivering creative and insights-led campaigns for advertising partners and contributing to industry growth,” Torres said.

“The travel and advertising industries have undergone transformational change during the past two years, from shifting consumer behaviours and expectations to the growing importance of first-party data and the rise of commerce media. It’s a pivotal time for destinations and travel brands, primed with opportunity to inspire travellers in new ways and capture pent-up demand, and I look forward to working with the Media Solutions team and our partners to drive meaningful results.”

A Seattle native, Torres was most recently vice chairman and a member of the Operating Committee of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and currently serves on the US Travel and Tourism Advisory Board (TTAB). He was also a former chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Future of Mobility council and past board chairman for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI).
