Singapore based travel portal, TripZilla, sets its eyes on Vietnam’s growing online travel market with the launch of TripZilla.vnon January 13.

This is the third travel portal for the company, the other two being inSingapore and Malaysia. As Tripzilla’s founder, Winnie Tan, said, the “phenomenal growth” in these two markets made her “bullish about the prospects in Vietnam”.

TripZilla Vietnam, the company’s first non-English travel portal catering to the local Vietnamese market, features over 2,000 travel deals and tour packages from over 50 Vietnam based tour agencies. It also aggregates travel deals from group-buying websites, credit card companies, airlines, hotels, tourism boards and travel insurance companies.

Users to the site can search and compare itineraries from major tour agencies in Vietnam to find the best travel deals for their upcoming trips. Registered users will also be kept informed via email about travel deals and packages that matches their given travel preferences.

With a population of 92.5 million, internet penetration reaching 31.2 million and a fast GDP growth of 5.2%, Tan sees in Vietnam a huge potential market with untapped opportunities for the online travel industry and a natural choice for TripZilla’s expansion.

“As middle class wealth and internet penetration increases we expect to see more consumers using online channels to plan and book their travels in the medium term.”

To accelerate the Vietnam portal’s growth TripZilla will be seeking to raise a Series A funding in the upcoming months.
