Visitors to Japan will soon be able to indulge in more of the country’s gastronomic delights, made possible by the collaboration between travel site, TripAdvisor, and Japan’s leading restaurant search site, Gurunavi.
Scheduled to go live in the first half of 2016, travellers will be able to access the latest in restaurant information with Gurunavi’s database of 500,000 outlets in Japan. They can make restaurant reservations in English via a booking link on the site.

TripAdvisor said in a statement that the partnership would make its “restaurant directory in Japan more robust”.
The travel site’s reviews, traveller photos, and restaurant ratings will also be available on Gurunavi.
In turn, Gurunavi will add TripAdvisor’s accommodations meta-search function to its own Japanese travel sites, Surf & Snow and Gurutabi. This will enable domestic travellers to better plan, compare, and book their holidays in Japan.
Aaron Hung, TripAdvisor’s director of partnerships for Asia Pacific said in addition to finding and booking some of Japan’s best restaurants on TripAdvisor, “Gurunavi users can also read TripAdvisor user reviews on Gurunavi, which will better inform their decisions when choosing a restaurant to visit.”
Tsutomu Motomura, Gurunavi’s managing executive officer, added that the partnership would enable the site “to provide accurate and detailed restaurant information to travellers all over the world, and introduce them to the allure of Japanese food.”
