Joint venture with travel tech veteran Guido Becher, in partnership with Phocuswright, builds a bridge between Asia and Latin America

WiT (Web in Travel), the leading travel tech media and events platform in Asia Pacific, will make its Latin America debut with WiT LATAM on Thursday, November 11, 2027, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The one-day event is a joint venture with Latin American travel veteran Guido Becher and is held in partnership with Phocuswright, the global authority on travel, tourism and hospitality research.

Latin America is one of the world’s most dynamic travel markets. According to Phocuswright’s Latin America Travel Market Report 2025, the region generated US$67.9 billion in gross bookings in 2024 and is projected to reach US$95.8 billion in 2027, with online penetration of 54%.

WiT LATAM will bring together the region’s top travel operators, airlines, hotel groups, tech companies, startups, DMOs, tourism boards and investors, and put them in the same room as senior executives from global travel brands. Sessions will explore how technology is reshaping the market, and how Latin American travellers discover, book and experience travel, from superapps and fintech to loyalty and generative AI.

“Our mission is to build bridges across the world, and it’s time we built one between Asia and Latin America,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, Founder, WiT. “We believe these two regions have more similarities than differences. Both are diverse, fragmented, complex and full of promise for our community of intrepid travel professionals.

“This year WiT turned 21, under the theme ’21: A New Beginning.’ At 21 comes independence, freedom and the chance to become who you want to be. For travel, the generative AI era is a new beginning too, with new horizons, new markets and new ways to serve the traveller.”

The event will carry WiT’s signature mix of candid conversation, community and connection, seen at its events from Japan and South Korea to the Middle East, Queenstown and Cape Town, and blend local, regional and global voices.

Guido Becher is Senior Advisor and Global Head of Travel & Loyalty at Rappi, where he built and scaled its travel and loyalty businesses within one of Latin America’s leading app and e-commerce ecosystems. He also sits on the board of Civitatis, a global leader in tours and activities. He founded Netactica, a travel technology company powering travel across digital ecosystems, superapps, fintech platforms and loyalty programmes. He served as Chairman from 2019 and remained on the board through its acquisition in 2026.

“Latin America has built some of the world’s most inventive digital ecosystems, from superapps to fintech to loyalty. Travel is now being woven into all of them,” said Becher. “Having experienced WiT Singapore, I’ve seen how its community gets people talking honestly and doing business together. Asia has lived through many of the shifts our region is going through now. Bringing those two worlds into one room in Buenos Aires is an opportunity we can’t miss.”

WiT and Phocuswright already collaborate on the WiT Phocuswright Global Startup Pitch and WiT Phocuswright Middle East. The partnership pairs WiT’s community with Phocuswright’s research and industry insight.

“Our research shows Latin America is one of the fastest-growing travel markets in the world, and one where digital adoption is accelerating rapidly,” said Pete Comeau, Managing Director, Phocuswright. “WiT LATAM gives the region’s innovators a stage to share what they’re building and connects them to a global industry eager to learn from them. We’re proud to bring our data and insight to this conversation.”

Added Siew Hoon: “Latin America is a new horizon for WiT, and we come to it with curiosity and a lot of excitement. We are arriving to listen, to learn and to build something with a community that has so much to say.”

Venue details and featured speakers will be announced in the coming months.
