WIT Hospitality Reimagines – focuses on change and disruption
14/02/2017 by Yeoh Siew Hoon

WIT Hospitality, in its second edition, will face change and disruption squarely, with head honchos of top hospitality companies in Asia.

Some issues it will address include the future of distribution and marketing; digital marketing; new hotel models; consolidation; new technologies like Voice, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Bots; and disruptors including alternative accommodation.

The conference will also feature Deep Dive tables, with participants choosing coaches/topics of their choice. There will be up to eight Deep Dive tables on offer.

“The hotel industry is increasingly more dependent on new technology and social media providers to connect to the new generation of travellers and we need to be at the forefront to meet their expectations,” said Shuan Campbell, chairman of Hong Kong Hotels Association, a WIT partner for both editions.

“WIT Hospitality Hong Kong provides a valuable platform for information exchange, technology updates and industry leaders to share knowledge and experiences to make our industry more successful,” he added.

“WIT is well known for leading and helping the travel industry to think out-of-the-box, create new approaches, and also probing the future, which many hotels in Hong Kong, especially independent hotels, might not have the resources to develop by themselves, I could see WIT as an incubator and accelerator in this area for the local hotel industry,” said Richard Hatter, general manager, Hotel ICON in Hong Kong, WIT’s partner for the second year running.

“This is no time to take a back seat and be an observer. Everyone interested in succeeding and surviving in this industry needs to take action. In such a conference setting, the energy and the collective stream of consciousness is exactly what we all need to reimagine our businesses,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, managing director and founder of WIT.

WIT Hospitality 2017 is built on the success of last year’s event, with 180 delegates attending. Among those were students and startups, a group that WIT is looking to expand in light of its continued efforts to groom future talent.
