Expedia Inc. and Barceló Hotel Group have formed a strategic partnership, which sees www.barcelo.com powered by Expedia’s dynamic packaging platform.
Expedia said in a statement that its package bookings “drive twice the length of stay and booking window, and half the cancellations of standalone bookings – a direct booking benefit Barceló properties will now enjoy.” They will help drive incremental demand and revenue for the global hotel chain
Barceló, which has a strong presence in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, comprises four brands in 20 countries. The offerings are now live on Barceló’s US and UK sites, and will roll out globally in the coming months.
The new package booking option enables the hotel group’s customers booking on the US and UK points-of-sale to combine their Barceló hotel with a flight booking from any of the nearly 500 Expedia airline partners.
“This new partnership with Expedia is a natural fit for us, allowing us to offer consumers an unrivalled dynamic packaging experience from our own website,” said Raul Gonzalez, CEO of Barceló Hotel Group.
Cyril Ranque, president, Expedia Lodging Partner Services, said the Barceló partnership “is a clear sign that our heavy investment in technology innovation is paying off for our hotel partners.”
This partnership is the second for Expedia, as it is also powering Marriott International’s “Vacations by Marriott” site.
