Global accommodation wholesaler, Hotelbeds, reveals its 10 best-selling destinations in 2012 for the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Pacific Islands (MEAPAC), with the Lion City heading the list.
MEAPAC is the largest geographic region for Hotelbeds worldwide, as well as the fastest growing due to its size, scale and market opportunities.
For 2012 room night sales increased 31% owing to the region becoming more accessible to the international market and its popularity domestically.

Infrastructure investments in airports and hotels by countries in the region combined with airlines increasing capacity and launching new routes helped accelerate the growth, said Hotelbeds.
Active in over 100 source markets selling into the region, Hotelbeds’ highest percentage of customers come from Asia and Europe. International markets made up 52% of room nights sales on its online booking platform, with 48% from inter-regional travel.
Pablo Aycart, Hotelbeds managing director, MEAPAC, said the company’s focus for 2013 is to continue increasing its hotel portfolio as well as to “develop the distribution coverage and continue with our source market and destination expansion across the region particularly in Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China and the Philippines.”
