Postcard & Tag, a new visual social travel directory that allows users to discover and share photos of travel destinations around the world, will have its global launch in Jakarta, Indonesia tomorrow (21 April).
Using digital postcards, which are geo-mapped and categorised into a variety of travel experiences, users can share them with other travellers. They can alsoexplore destinations that can be collated into a personal guide for future trips.
The site is free of charge to members, and is already available to them. It ntegrates with all the popular social media platforms, and has five categories – Sleep, Eat & Drink, See & Do, Shop, and Play. Users can search destinations based on their personal travel preferences, and create their own travel directory to either plan a future trip, or share a collection of travel memories with family and friends.
Punyo Sakharet, creative director and co-founder of Postcard & Tag, said guidebooks could become outdated and miss unique discoveries of other travellers.
“We’ve reinvigorated and personalised the traditional postcard and brought it into the 21st century.
Sakhare added Postcard & Tag’s aim was “to establish a vibrant and visual travel community completely dedicated to uncovering the most up to date and unique finds, whether it is a trendy new hotel, an up and coming restaurant, or a largely unexplored cultural experience,”
Ruth Naderer, Postcard & Tag’s CEO and co-founder, said Indonesia was chosen for the global launch because it is a country largely unexplored by many international visitors.
“Indonesians too are increasingly discovering the unique beauty and enormous diversity of cultural experiences that this country has to offer. We’re certain that Indonesian travellers, and the world at large, will appreciate the unique features of Postcard & Tag to showcase any destination through the camera and more often today, through a smartphone lens.”
The company is appointing destination locals who will share their knowledgeable insider tips for their town or city,
“We have international celebrity chefs, television presenters, renowned professional travel photographers and even professional surfers, who have already committed to representing their areas of expertise with the Postcard & Tag community,” added Naderer.
Arief Yahya, Indonesia Minister of Tourism, welcomed the launch of the site saying, “Indonesia’s thousands of islands and 34 provinces provide travellers with the opportunity to experience a huge variety of culture, heritage and breathtaking natural beauty.”
Postcard & Tag will also roll out launch events throughout Southeast Asia during the course of this year,
