Jeju Air’s entry into the Air Black Box Asia Pacific family has given the company specialising in cloud-based airline passenger software platforms another nod.

“There is a new world order in the airline industry. Legacy technologies are increasingly becoming less relevant. It’s about the customers and enabling them to get to where they want to go without restrictions, and it requires innovative technology like Air Black Box’s award-winning Air Connection Engine, to enable airlines to service these customers. Jeju Air, through this investment, has recognised this,” said William Liu (pictured left), chairman of Air Black Box Asia Pacific.

With its investment, Korea’s Jeju Air Co Ltd Jeju Air gains a seat on the company’s Board of directors and joins Scoot Tigerair Pte Ltd, ANA Holdings Inc, Nok Air Public Company Ltd, Cebu Air Inc., and VaultPAD Ventures Ltd as company investors. The Board will now comprise 10 members and an independent Chairperson.

Air Black Box powers the Value Alliance group of airlines and “this investment will assist in solidifying the alliance’s position as the major low-cost carrier network in the Asia Pacific region”, it said.

Air Black Box (ABB) is a UK-based, venture-backed company specialising in cloud-based airline passenger software platforms. It developed the world’s first dedicated multi-carrier interlining and booking system that gives any airline the tools to connect its products to a partner airline’s brand.
