In less than two weeks, the bigwigs of the travel industry and up-and-coming disruptors will gather in Singapore for a three-day conference to cultivate ideas and ponder new ways to improve the travel experience.
Some 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference that will run from October 24 – 25, 2017 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. The conference features over 100 speakers and is supported by more than 30 sponsors and partners this year.
“With all the bad news and destructive hate events that have been happening in our world lately, the travel industry must stand together to search for and design new ways to keep people travelling. The travel experience must be enticing and motivational enough to fend off fear and adversity, so that people will not hesitate to travel – be it for work or leisure,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, founder and managing director of Web in Travel.
Now in its 13th year, WIT Singapore has built itself a loyal following of attendees and has garnered several awards for its innovative and interactive style of delivering presentations and conference sessions.
Also gaining momentum and popularity is its concurrent event – the WIT Bootcamp – that features WIT’s annual Startup Pitch competition for travel entrepreneurs to take their ideas to investors and mentors. The WIT 2017 Startup Pitch competition, powered by Travelport Labs, attracted a record-breaking number of entries from around the world. This year, 12 semi-finalists have been selected to pitch at the bootcamp, to compete for a place in the Grand Finals, happening on the last day of the WIT conference. Among other prizes, the winner will receive seed funding of up to US$30,000 and a spot in the Travelport Accelerator Lab programme in Denver.
The WIT Singapore conference this year features leading industry titans, including: Jane Jie Sun, CEO of Ctrip.com; Choe Peng Sum, CEO of Frasers Hospitality Group; Rob Greyber, President of Egencia; Mike Szücs, Chief Executive Adviser, Cebu Pacific Air; Shinichi Inoue, Representative Director & CEO Peach Aviation; Sean Treacy, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd; Thatcher Brown, President of Dream Cruises; Henry Hendrawan; Group CFO, Traveloka; Oliver Heckmann, Vice President, Engineering – Travel & Shopping, Google.
