TRANSPORTATION: CarTrawler now offers ride sharing services to its customers

CarTrawler’s customers can book rides from their airline app.

Travel technology provider, CarTrawler, has put ride-hailing into airline mobile apps in a partnership with mobility services platform, Splyt.

The London-based startup works with ride hailing companies such as mytaxi, Careem and Cabify to provide coverage to on-demand transportation in more than 360 cities across 29 countries worldwide.

CarTrawler stated in a statement the partnership would “revolutionise the ‘first and last mile’ for airlines and other online travel companies” with the option for their customers to book an on-demand ride directly from the airline’s app (via the airline’s ancillary marketplace) when they land.

The company’s partners include about 100 international airlines and 2,000 online travel retailer.

CarTrawler’s chief technology officer Bobby Healy said its ride hailing partners could now deliver their product and brands to a distribution platform connecting to close one billion customers annually.

“Through our airline partnerships we can now offer those customers the best combination of price and ETA while looking for taxis during that time – and better still, they can use their loyalty miles to pay for them,” he added.

Philipp Mintchin, CEO of Splyt, said this new partnership was beneficial for both CarTrawler’s clients and the company’s mutual ride-hailing partners.

“Airlines and other travel companies working with CarTrawler can provide added value to their users by offering on-demand mobility, wherever they go.”

Sounds Air, a New Zealand airline based in Blenheim, the gateway to the islands of Marlborough Sounds, links the North and South islands with scheduled flights to nine destinations.

As it celebrates its 30th anniversary the carrier is looking to expand domestically, and has signed a distribution agreement with Sabre to do that.

Through this deal Sounds Air can expand its sales and agency reach though Sabre’s global distribution system (GDS).

The airline has recorded a 75% increase in passenger bookings over the past three years, and says its connection to the Sabre travel marketplace will help grow its operations.

“We aim to support their operations by providing Sounds Air with access to our innovative tools, including AdvanceConnect and Guaranteed Ticketing,” said Rakesh Narayanan, vice president air line of business, Sabre Travel Network, Asia Pacific.

“Adding Sounds Air’s regional content to the Sabre platform will enable greater travel agency sales and broaden its distribution reach.”

AIRLINES: Cambodia Bayon Airlines plans regional expansion

Cambodia Bayon Airlines to add regonal routes

Cambodia, with its heritage sites and idyllic islands, is emerging as a popular tourist destination. Last year international visitor arrivals increased 11.8% with China as the largest source market, followed by Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and South Korea

To tap into this growth Phnom Penh-based domestic carrier, Cambodia Bayon Airlines, is looking to spread its wings regionally across Southeast Asian.

The airline has signed an agreement with Travelport that enables it, for the first time, to display its branded fares and ancillary content to Travelport’s network of over 68,000 travel agents worldwide.

Cambodia Bayon Airlines spokesperson, Tuo Yan, said the deal with Travelport increased the availability of the carrier’s flight options to travellers and help support its international expansion plan.
