Sabre Corporation, which hosted its first Sabre Technology Exchange (STX) in Singapore this week for over 600 customers from across the business of travel to steer the evolution of travel, has also busy inking deals with its partners at the event.

The global technology company announced a partnership with China Eastern Airlines on August 28 to develop the carrier’s next generation Airline Operation Centre using Sabre Corporation’s AirCentre suite as the core system to power it.

The system will help the airline to better organise and manage flights, ensure constant flight monitoring operations and assist in controlling safety risks.

AirCentre will also ensure schedule continuity, from planning to day-of operations, and minimise the impact of disruptions to both airline operations and travellers.

Using the solutions China Eastern will be able to optimise flight plans, deliver accurate flight monitoring capabilities, reduce the workload of dispatchers and increase productivity. It will also use Sabre’s flight movement management system to enable fast decision making and facilitate operation recovery, which will directly contribute to improved operation safety and efficiency.  o

Dave Shirk, president of Sabre Travel Solution, said this broad technology partnership would drive China Eastern’s transition to become a connected airline and the implementation of its Airline Operations Centre.

“With access to our innovative technology and Sabre’s commitment to the China market, the airline will be well equipped to address the highly competitive environment and meet its corporate growth objectives.”

A day later Sabre and Hong Kong Airlines broadened their partnership with the implementation of Sabre Branded Fares for the carrier.

This solution will help the airline bring its services and ancillaries to travel agents worldwide. Agencies can target their consumers with personalised offers, enabling enhanced cross-sell and upsell opportunities that simplify the retailing of full-service benefits.

“Our expanded partnership with Sabre is directly in line with our business strategy to ensure that travellers and agents interact with the Hong Kong Airlines brand,” said Wayne Wang, Hong Kong Airlines’ assistant director for commercial.

“With this new solution, our brand will remain visible throughout the entire booking process, which is particularly important as we continue to increase our regional and global flight routes including long-haul service from Hong Kong to destinations like Vancouver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.”

Rakesh Narayanan, vice president, air line of business, Sabre Travel Network Asia Pacific added that apart from enhanced visibility Hong Kong Airlines’ variety of offers would also increase with its branded content available to online travel agencies and more than 425,000 travel agents on Sabre’s global travel marketplace.
