Continuing to build momentum, Taiwan tours and activities startup KKday has just raised Series B+ funding, co-led by LINE Ventures and the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund.

Existing investors, including CDIB Capital and Monk’s Hill Ventures, also participated with follow-on investments, following KKday’s US$10.5 million raised back in February. KKday did not disclose the full amount in its latest round.

The strategic funding will accelerate KKday’s efforts to develop its suite of technologies in travel bookings and experiences, and further its global expansion into new markets. Specifically, KKday will grow its operations in Japan, China and Korea, and expand into new markets including Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and the USA.

The investment will also see a strategic collaboration between KKday and LINE Ventures with the launch of “LINE Travel” later this month. Line Travel is a comprehensive in-app service that enables users to search and book flights, hotels, tours and activities, as well as to plan and share their itineraries with friends. This will be the first step in what KKday expects to be part of a more global collaboration.

Chen Ming-ming, founder and CEO, KKday, states, “The investment and collaboration with LINE is a huge breakthrough, not just for KKday, but also for the travel industry. We are committed to digitising travel experiences with our partners, and are very excited to be working with LINE to build frictionless and seamless travel experiences for all travelers worldwide.”

KKday had already begun its collaboration with Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund in July, through the launch of a flagship store under Alibaba Group’s travel portal, Fliggy, marking the startups first steps into China. “Since our investment in July, KKday has demonstrated its strong execution capabilities in different markets and has shown exponential growth,” said Andrew Lee, executive director, Alibaba Taiwan Entrepreneurs Fund.
