How are travel companies faring in gender equity and promoting women’s leadership? Phocuswright will soon have the answers when it completes its second study on gender equity and presents its findings at the upcoming Phocuswright Conference in Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale this November.

Phocuswright’s first edition in 2018 found the following:

  • 30% of respondents rated gender parity in the travel industry as above “adequate.”
  • 42% disagreed that leadership opportunities are equally available to all employees.
  • 76% cited the absence of a leadership track as the number-one obstacle.

Multiple research studies reveal that companies with greater diversity in the C-suite perform better in the marketplace.

This year’s study will be broader in scope, as it will leverage the travel industry audiences that make up Northstar Travel Group, parent company to Phocuswright. Northstar Travel Group’s B2B portfolio expands the reach of the study to include professionals in leisure/retail, corporate/business travel, meetings and incentives and travel technology.

“As an organisation, we are uniquely positioned to lead the discussion by sharing the stories of female leaders ascending into powerful positions across our industry and building teams that impact the direction of our future,” said Bob Sullivan, president of Northstar Travel Group.

The survey will be open through September. Results will be presented at The Phocuswright Conference, Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in November.
