In the run-up to WIT Indonesia taking place April 23 in Jakarta, WIT is teaming up with Wego Indonesia and Kreavi to launch the WIT Challenge.
The competition, run in conjunction with Kreavi, the Indonesian designers crowd-sourcing platform, challenges students and young designers from age 18 up to dream up ideas to promote Indonesia as a tourism destination.
They have to answer the question “If I were promoting Indonesia to the world, my concept would be …”
To enter, they need to submit their ideas by April 8.
Their entries will be judged based on Originality and creativity, Quality of Design and The Wow Factor.
The winner will win US$$1,000 cash and a chance to present their idea at the WIT Indonesia conference. The three top finalists will win internship opportunities at top travel companies including Wego.
“We wanted a way to engage with students and young people who are interested in tourism careers and given how social and collaborative Indonesian society is, we thought a design competition, run with Wego and Kreavi, a design community, would be the best way to do it,” said Yeoh Siew Hoon, editor and founder of WIT.
“Indonesia is a country with rich tourism assets both natural and man made. The people are proud of their country, are very creative and love to share their country to the world. We expect to see that creativity and uniqueness of Indonesia shine through in the submissions. Up until now, aside from Bali, Indonesia remains one of the world’s best kept secrets,” said Graham Hills, managing director, Wego Indonesia.
WIT Indonesia will return to Pullman Central Park where it was held last year. The one-day conference which will blend global knowledge with local insights has already confirmed speakers from global brands like Booking.com, Expedia, Google, Facebook and Trivago.
