AccorHotels’ buying spree continues with its latest acquisition – VeryChic, a digital platform for the private sale of luxury hotel rooms and apartments, cruises, breaks and packages.
This deal follows close on the heels of its decision to buy French hospitality firm Potel & Chabot (deal is currently under negotiations).
AccorHotels said VeryChic would help the hotel group “strengthen its expertise in the creation of exceptional private sales”.
VeryChic was created in 2011 by Nicolas Clair, Hervé Lafont and Charles Decaux. It now has more than 3,000 luxury and upscale hotel partners from 40 countries on its platform to optimise their distribution and provides them with access to new guests via its private sales.
According to the company, it transacts more than 4,000 exclusive private sales throughout the year, to a member base of more than five million via its website and mobile app. More than half of the bookings are through the mobile app.
Steven Daines, AccorHotels COO new businesses and CEO HotelServices Africa & Middle East, said the hotel group would support VeryChic in its international expansion. It also looks to “benefit from its (VeryChic) expertise to provide a portfolio of incredible locations and attractive offers to our guests, while presenting our hotels with a complementary solution to optimise the distribution of their rooms”.
Hervé Lafont, founder/chairman and CEO of VeryChic, added: “The combination with AccorHotels will allow VeryChic to roll out globally the services that we have been providing to hotels for the past five years and to offer our members the opportunity to discover the most beautiful locations in the luxury hotel sector.”
