“However, as more air routes re-open, we expect to see an increase in the number of customers re-scheduling flights and processing re-bookings over the coming days,” an Amadeus spokesperson told WIT.

She added, “One of the benefits of the Amadeus Altéa suite of solutions is exactly in the case of disruptions to normal schedules so those airlines which are using the Amadeus Altéa CMS will be able to re-schedule, re-book and re-accommodate passengers efficiently.

“In anticipation of the increased level of demand once the flight ban has been lifted, we have put in place additional resources and technical capacity ready to process re-accommodation bookings  immediately.”

Meanwhile, in Singapore, Abacus International reports that Asia to Europe bookings (in particular, to Paris, London and Frankfurt) are not showing any drop against 2009, “but then 2009 is the best year to compare against”.

“However, there is no drop against the previous week either,” said a spokesperson.

Abacus noted that the booking trend which was pulled for the week of 8/4 to 18/4 also did not show any major cancellation trend for the three cities.
