Amadeus Asia Pacific has undergone a leadership change with the appointment of Angel Gallego (pictured left) as the new president, replacing David Brett who has been with the company for 23 years, 13 in the region.

Luis Maroto, president & CEO, Amadeus IT Group, said, “David opened the Asia Pacific office for Amadeus in 2000, and has done a remarkable job significantly growing our business in the region into what it is today. We are sad to see David leave us and wish him all the best for the future.”

Gallego is joining Asia Pacific for the first time, but he is no stranger to diverse regions. During his 13 years with Amadeus he has successfully managed the company’s growth in Western Europe, Middle East and Africa and Latin America.

In his new regional role he will direct the company’s strategy for Asia Pacific, focusing on distribution and new business opportunities in the region. One of his key priorities is to ensure the travel industry continues to have the latest technology to meet the increasing demands of today’s traveller in Asia Pacific.

“Asia Pacific is an extremely interesting region; the different cultures, people and economies will make it an exciting and enriching experience. I look forward to travelling around Asia Pacific, getting to know our customers and learning about the intricacies of their business,” said Gallego.

Holger Taubmann, senior vice president, distribution, Amadeus IT group, based in Madrid, said Gallego’s strong track record would ensure Amadeus remains number one in Asia Pacific.
