Some 350 delegates are attending the first-ever CruiseWorld Asia conference from November 30 to December 1, 2017 in Singapore.
CruiseWorld has been a dominant player in the cruise industry in North America for over a decade, and six successful editions of CruiseWorld have been staged in China since 2015. This new edition of CruiseWorld Asia, organised by Northstar Travel Group’s Travel Weekly Asia, meets the growing demand for cruise tourism in the region.
Professionals from cruise lines and other industry stakeholders will tackle the theme – ‘The Future of Southeast Asia Cruise Tourism: It’s Not How to Sell, But What to Sell’ – and bring deeper understanding of the trends and challenges driving cruise activity in today’s market.
The annual event features panel discussions, presentations and an exhibitor showcase. The conference schedule also includes plenty of networking opportunities for suppliers and travel agents to connect.
One such panel session is ‘Cruise Leaders Say: What Lies Ahead?’, with discussions on cruising development in Southeast Asia, up and coming homeports around Asia and the growth potential of Asia as a cruising region. Delegates will hear from cruise executives Michael Ungerer, chief operations officer of Carnival Asia; Michael Goh, senior vice president for international sales, Genting Cruise Lines; Sean Treacy (pictured right), managing director for Asia Pacific, Royal Caribbean International; and William Harber, president for China & Asia Pacific, Hurtigruten.
‘Curators of Cruise Experience’ session will see travel agents sharing their expertise on how to level up from counter staff to cruise consultant extraordinaire, becoming a curator of cruise experience tailored to the evolving preferences of today’s cruise passenger.
H.E. Ngurah Swajaya, The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Dato’ Syed Mohamad bin Syed Murtaza, Chairman of Penang Port, Raymond Lim, Area Director of Singapore Tourism Board in Indonesia, and Kajorndet Apichartrakul, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand will also discuss the competitiveness of this region as a cruise destination in “Rise of Cruising in Southeast Asia.”
