A Pinterest-inspired revamp for Wego Deals

Wego.com, has unveiled a completely redesigned version of its Deals site, which features a Pinterest inspired design that takes a photo driven approach to showcasingtravel deals.

The new site, which lists the hottest travel deals available in a market at any given time, is available on all 42 Wego country sites worldwide but only in English initially.

Wego sources its deals from all markets and for all destinations globally from multiple partners that include online travel agents, cruise operators and adventure operators. The deals are categorised by product type, (flight, hotel, package, cruise), budget, destination as well as themes such as beach, escape, weekend, romantic and boutique.

“With a great selection of thousands of travel deals, the new Deals site is a complete menu of mouth-watering travel opportunities,” said Wego CMO, Dean Wicks.

Wego Deals was originally launched as a fully automated travel deals aggregation service, like Google News, but focused on surfacing the best travel deals for flights, hotels, package tours and cruises. Travel industry professionals, working as editors, were then added to the mix to manually scour the internet for travel deals.

“Having now experimented with both expert and machine based approaches, our experience has shown that a thoughtful combination of both algorithmic selection augmented with human judgement is the best approach to curation in a space as fast moving, subjective and market-specific as travel deals,” said Jasmine Lim, Wego’s director of product management and partner integration (pictured right).

Analysis shows it is becoming an increasingly common behaviour for users to find a deal on Wego Deals and then match it with flights or accommodation found via Wego’s metasearch offering.
