Rumours have it that it was a gorgeous sunny day in Singapore. We wouldn’t know anything about that because we were holed up in our web agency’s office getting our WIT 2012 conference site ready for launch.
And so this evening at 6.18pm, we have lift-off. No, we didn’t consult any feng shui master who said we had to launch at that particular lucky time – just happened.
It’s been quite a journey putting the dots in place for the full programme this year and they are by no means complete. Still lots of dots to come and to change, for sure, but we’ve got the basic theme and format in place.
So we’re happy to announce the line-up of our eighth edition of WIT:
1. The return of THack@WIT, in partnership with Tnooz. This open travel hackathon will be a virtual event held a week before the WIT event.
2. WIT Bootcamp with its focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, and featuring the WIT Start-Up Pitch.
3. WIT Conference with the theme of “Unplugged: Journey with WIT”
4. The ITB Asia Clinics, by WIT
Lots of new and exciting things being planned this year including a new home – Marina Bay Sands.
We’ve got an eclectic mix of speakers – from Glenn Fogel, executive vice president-corporate development, Priceline Inc (below, left), to Paralympian and artist Gregory Burns (below, right) to mixed reality scientist Prof Adrian David Cheok (above), and a diverse cast of who’s who in the online travel space in Asia Pacific.
We’ve got a theme that will give us lots of room for play, and scope to dissect the online travel universe into morsels of inspiration and ideas.
Mostly, we’re all set to welcome you to Singapore – follow us on the journey to October 15-17.
