With the signing of its 10th participant, Scoot, research company GfK is set to launch its Travelscan study for the Singapore market.

Travelscan uses live forward booking data from various players to monitor weekly trade performance across online and offline distribution channels. Among the 10 companies that have signed up, other than Scoot, are AAE/Expedia, Asiatravel, travix (cheaptickets), Flight Centre and Quotient Travelplanner.

Global Travel Director at GfK, Laurens van den Oever (left), said, “The idea behind Travelscan is to give travel companies insights based on live booking data from a growing number of sales points.

“Services are being offered today through a variety of channels and devices (omni-channel / multi-devices) with a dramatic increase of touch points.

“Successful companies operating in the travel industry need a holistic view on each step of the booking journey to understand and anticipate the total market developments and, most importantly, increase profitable growth.”

Jeffrey Lu, Head of Strategy, for AAE/Expedia, said: “We’ve been working with GfK on an industry-level initiative to consolidate (disguised) bookings data from various travel industry players to provide market information.  Several other companies are signed up, including airlines and OTAs and travel agencies. At AAE, we like the idea of getting relevant and currently unavailable data cuts for planning activities.”
