The revenue was generated by a record 5.7 million hotel reservations, or US$361 for for each booking, processed over the past year,
David Williams, SiteMinder’s general manager for sales and marketing (pictured left), said the doubling in revenue followed a major growth in the number of hotels around the world using the company’s distribution platform.
Another reason for the healthy financial result was a significant increase in the number of booking channels that hotels list their rooms on, increasing online revenue opportunities.
The platform powers SiteMinder Channel Manager and the recently released Room Distribution Exchange (RDX) – an industry standard connectivity platform that allows hotel systems and online booking channels to connect directly over the web without needing to use third party distribution intermediaries
SiteMinder has also seen a sizeable increase in the number of accommodation companies integrating their Property Management Systems (PMSs) to its Channel Manager, creating an automatic and express two-way ‘booking highway’ for properties and online booking channels.
“With consumers around the world booking more rooms online than ever before, more hotels are turning to effective technologies like SiteMinder to maximise revenue from this increasingly important market,” added Williams.
