Net Trans acts as a single channel through which agents can collect commission from all their hotel suppliers. If payments are late or inaccurate, then Net Trans follows up with the hotel on the agent’s behalf to rectify the situation.
Other results from the annual survey confirm the growing importance of Net Trans in enhancing the relationship between hotels and agents, and also how essential hotels and agents are for each other. The findings include:
Hotels are beginning to understand agents are watching them
This year, 35% of hotels say they are aware Net Trans’ travel agency customers can view online web reports to see whether hotels are good payers or not. That figure is up from 21% last year, but Net Trans chief executive officer Martin Jorgensen believes hotel awareness needs to improve further. “The responses show around two-thirds of hotels still don’t realise agents are monitoring their commission payment performance,” he says. “Using the Net Trans portal, agents can see in just two clicks if a hotel is a reliable payer.”
More and more hotels know Net Trans
The number of hotels which say they know Net Trans has climbed from 78% per cent last year to 87% this year.
Hotels continue to pay commission
96% of hotels pay commission to travel agents, a figure that is unchanged from last year and 3% higher than two years ago. Of those hotels which do pay, 52% pay an average commission rate of 10%, while 25% pay more. Almost all the rest pay either 8% or 9%.
Hotels value travel agents
No fewer than 96% of hotels consider travel agents as important partners, a figure which has remained unchanged for two years.
“These results are good news for travel agents,” says Jorgensen. “They show hotel commission will remain a strong, reliable source of income for them. However, not all hotels remember to pay the commission they owe, and that’s why the survey is also good news for us at Net Trans. It demonstrates how important we have become as a trusted partner for hotels and agents alike in making the commission payment process smoother.”
Net Trans interviewed 1,055 hotels and hotel chains, based in every continent of the world, for its survey.
