Thailand has the highest number of “recognised accommodation partners” in Agoda’s rostrum of hotels for its latest Customer Review Awards.

The accolade is awarded to hotels that have at least 40 reviews with an average review score of 8.0 or above. Reviews are based on five key criteria including location, service, cleanliness, facilities and price. Out of the five criteria, reviewers placed location as the most important.

This year, more than 7,800 properties in 22 countries are presented with the accolade. After Thailand, Japan and Indonesia claim the next two spots. Bali scooped the top place of on the list of winning cities or regions with 397 properties, followed by Tokyo with 295 and 260 in Taipei.

Asia Pacific travellers are the “most opinionated reviewers”, according to Agoda, with Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore travellers ranked as the top five markets by the number of reviews globally.

After location, Agoda’s reviewers prioritize cleanliness of the accommodation, service from hotel staff, value for the money and facilities.

“The Customer Review Plaque highlights the winning properties’ ability to consistently provide a great service that is widely applauded by the travelling public in their reviews. Travellers increasingly trust peer-to-peer reviews when selecting accommodation, relying on their feedback to help choose properties that are in great locations, clean, and good value for money. We want to recognise our partners who with scores over 8.0 consistently deliver for our customers, so guests can rest assured that they have made the right choice when booking at these winning properties via Agoda,” said Errol Cooke, vice president of partner services, Agoda.
