Top travel websites for October: Australia, China

Wotif, Agoda and Jetstar were the most visited websites in Australia in October, while over in China the top players were Qunar, MaFengWo and China Eastern Airlines. (Full details in slides below)

Australia

  • The online travel space Down Under remained fairly consistent for the seventh consecutive month. Wotif.com continued to lead the pack with 12.39% share of visits, while Webjet Australia (12.28%) and Expedia Australia (9.01%) followed close behind.
  • The results told a different story in the destinations and accommodation category, where Agoda.com jumped two places to snag the top spot (7.97%) from longstanding leader, TripAdvisor Australia (7.66%).
  • Qantas (19.48%) lost its lead by a mere margin for the first time in five months, having been replaced by longtime competitor Jetstar with 20.34% share of visits.

China

  • Qunar.com (17.44%) and Ctrip.com (17.41%) continued to dominate the online travel scene in China, with Go.qq.com (13.18%) following in third position.
  • MaFengWo maintained its stronghold as the top destination and accommodation website in the country with a whopping 26.52% share of visits, while hotels.ctrip.com (10.78%) and vacations.ctrip.com (7.50%) trailed far behind.
  • In the commercial airlines sector, China Eastern Airlines overtook its counterpart China Southern Airlines (15.23%) marginally to top the table with 15.72% share of visits.
