Aviation technology company Variflight has launched Airsavvi, a new global brand focused on providing data intelligence to its corporate customers.
At the launch in Singapore last Friday, founder and CEO, Zheng Hongfeng said that the new brand was built to address the growing importance of data analytics on daily operations of its partners.
Airsavvi will serve VariFlight’s 1000+ partners from over 30 countries including China. These partners include airlines, airports, travel technology companies, TMCs, transportation companies and more.
Said Zheng, “as a tech company that has gone through the era of web 1.0 and mobile internet, and now the era of AI and IoT, we have spotted the transition of market demands from simply integrating data into existing business processes to building a more intelligent and flexible capability to adapt to new business scenarios [with] data. Airsavvi is designed to help build that capability.”
Airsavvi will use VariFlight’s data expertise as well as USD10 million in additional funding for research and development to augment its position as a travel data intelligence provider.
“Data is becoming cheaper and cheaper but algorithms and computing power are becoming more and more expensive,” said Simon Lee (vice president, VariFlight). “For [our] data business, we felt it was the right time to have a separate team to better serve our customers and have their own unique advantage and capabilities… [Airsavvi] is a new travel data intelligence company focused on building data application capabilities to help [companies] achieve growth and reduce their operational costs.”
The new brand will provide a portfolio of newly upgraded services including:
It will operate as an independent business under VariFlight’s umbrella, with a stronger focus on boosting efficiencies for its global partners. It will also look to expand beyond air travel, exploring other travel sectors like rail.
“We initially started from the aviation side… but aviation is just the beginning. We are starting to explore a lot more other areas as well,” said Lee.
The event also celebrated the signing of partnership between Airsavvi and its launch customer, India’s largest online travel group, MakeMyTrip and Goibibo.
