The top three finalists of this year’s WIT Start Up Pitch have been named, following the first round of competition earlier today at the WIT Bootcamp 2016 at One Farrer Hotel and Spa.
Competition was steep, with seven semi-finalists eager to catch the eyes and minds of an esteemed panel of 10 judges, including: Douglas Khoo (Co-founder, Qunar), Rod Cuthbert (CEO, Rome2rio), Jason Nash (GVP Global Marketing & Product Incubation, Travelport), Melissa Yang (Co-founder, Tujia), Aya Yamato (Team Lead, Travel Investment, Recruit), amongst others.
Congratulations to:
Backstreet Academy, a peer-to-peer (P2P) travel activities platform tailored for developing countries.
Cape – a flight-booking platform specifically focused on selling standby tickets, generating incremental revenue from last-minute seats sold – also made it through.
The final qualifier is Sports Where I Am – an online platform that targets fanatical sports fans and distributes information on nearby sporting events wherever you are.
The Top Three will now move on to the Grand Final, which will take place on the final day of WIT Singapore – October 19, 2016, where they will make their final pitches.
The ultimate winner will walk away with a place in the Travelport Labs Accelerator programme, which comes with seed funding of US$30,000. They also stand to win USD120k of cloud credits from IBM.
