Amid the disruption happening in corporate travel, HRS, Global Hotel Solutions, has built its own innovation hub in Berlin where it’s acting as accelerator and partner to startups. It’s also of course a way for the German-based family run company to tap into tech talent. (See related story)

ragge_tobias_5Asked where were the opportunities for startups in corporate travel, CEO Tobias Ragge identified the following pain points.

  1. Data around duty of care and cost savings, how to create a holistic data identifier in a fully automated way; the experience of the traveler after the transaction
  1. The experience of the traveller after the transaction. “Accommodation is such a fragmented market. The chains are working on mobile-drivem innovative solutions, keyless hotel entry, mobole payments – but what about the independent hotels? What about an on-site experience for them which allows check in and checkout and meaningful communication with guests.”
  1. Meetings and groups. “This is a huge segment that is still largely offline, it’s about 15 years behind. When you think that 70% of the meetings are for under 20 people, there’s a huge opportunity there.”
